We just sold our beautiful mission style home...5 bedrooms, three baths, two kitchens, living room, family room, laundry room, sun room, butlers pantry, three car garage and barn...to buy this....Talk about Green Acres ....the basic structure is an old log cabin from the 1800's the poorly done additions were added over the years as it was being used as a 'camp'.... the foundation is solid and the logs (under the ugly siding) are in wonderful condition. Our kind of renovation...
So....we purchased a container (semi) and are presently filling it with our things that may always live in the container since we are coming from such a large home to a small cabin...but, it'll work itself out (sure)....loading up our sheep/llama/chickens/peacocks/parrot/dogs and will make our final trip up there in about two weeks....fingers crossed that the snow and ultra cold weather will just wait awhile.....at least until we are off the road and pulled into the driveway of our new home.
I will blog and post pictures as we progress...at the moment, I just want a toilet, water and heat...my husband is working on it with his crew going up there from time to time...we'll just hunker down for the winter planning our gardens/green house/koi pond and wading pool (you didn't think I was going to give up everything). We can finally stop working so hard for others and work hard for us...so happy....
Join us in our new venture...from City Girl (Chicago) to Country/Farm (Wisconsin) to Pioneer Woman (UP) on a lot of acres and next to state land...so not too many neighbors...it's going to be an adventure and as usual I open one eye every morning and have two thousand ideas...close one eye every evening right after the last idea of the day and sleep like a baby. What a great husband I have...has to listen to all of these ideas...and, he has to admit that I really come up with some good ones very often and sometimes, he just shakes his head. He apparently is starting to have a hearing loss it seems, maybe that's his defense mechanism. We'll see...I test him once in awhile to see if he really can't hear me...my newest amusement besides making rag balls (bowl fillers) from all of the scrapes of material I've kept over the years...sometimes when my hands are busy and I'm listening to music my mind relaxes a bit...but usually not for long.
....here's one of my lambs that is going to move from WI to MI and her mama and the chicken.
