WE ARE COMPLETELY MOVED (no going back)....AND LOVING OUR NEW PLACE IN THE BEAUTIFUL UPPER PENINSULA, MI....

We are finally completely (no going back) moved to our next home/last project....it took about a month of packing and loading and driving to get all of our stuff, household (big house) heavy equipment (for husbands business) and our animals (sheep, llama, chickens, peacocks, cat and dogs).  Oh and our parrot and parakeet who now live much closer to us, as this new (?) home log cabin from the 1800' is much smaller....so we talk regularly....parrot asks for chips, peanuts and corn all day.  I feed her in the morning and then as she continues to ask (she's an African Gray) I tell her she has food in her dish....she says good morning, good night, and asks for kisses every time I walk by...also, among other phrases that are a part of her repitoire....some that she of course saves to say loud and clear when someone other than immediate family is present..questionable noises and a few naughties.....

We have a working bathroom  (new septic) and a somewhat working kitchen (refrigerator and a Ninja Foodi and a new well (so water and showers/baths) , our comfy bed is set up, televisions/cable installed, internet connected...and we are ready to relax a bit (even though there are boxes all over, several trailers still full, still to be gone through and our semi container which is stuffed....but, it's cold and we have all that we need...so we are going to relax.....makes you wonder if you really need all of the other "stuff" that is in the trailers, containers.  I guess we will learn about need and want.

It is hard for us to slow down..my husband and I have worked very hard all of our lives, owning a construction company, a restaurant, an apartment building, bed and breakfasts all while taking care of a hobby farm  and me working full time in nursing or social service. We have to keep reminding each other that life has changed and we can do whatever we want or not, whenever we want....I think we will hibernate for awhile....catch up on reading, listen to music and spend time with each other.

The animals are all set up (fences, waterer and housing) and appear to like their new digs...we have to go out each morning and night and feed and check on everyone and they happily greet us at the gate each time.   If we feel like it, we work on a project...there are so many...but we quit after a few hours, make a meal and enjoy a glass of wine or two.  These should be the luxuries that you eventually get to enjoy on a full time basis...

This winter we plan on developing some of the crafts we enjoy.  My husband used to have time to make furniture, he's looking forward to doing that again.  I have always been very active with crafts and so I will continue on a more regular basis and develop and learn new techniques.

Here's to our new life in the beautiful Upper Peninsula Michigan and to really taking charge of our lives......

UPDATE:  2021 We have new flooring, drywall, a  working bathroom and kitchen...two new large decks and a large master bedroom and dressing room/lots of closets.. feels wonderful...so comfortable and still have all of the wonderful views of the north woods and all of our birds/animals and changing seasons...

UPDATE:  2022 Bathroom is now fully dry walled, has tile and a completed closet.  All of the exterior is resided with rough saw lumber and one side of the log cabin is the original log siding...just newly chinked...next, up into the 2nd floor...dry wall is already up there...put in new windows, after using the openings to throw out a huge dumpster full of the worthless stuff that was up there...it's a small staircase, I can't believe the last owners (used it as a camp) struggled to bring such a large amount of junk up there...anyway, cleared out and ready for new fresh drywall.  Making it into two rooms.
